Tucked into the southwest corner of mainland British Columbia, the Sunshine Coast is a 180 km stretch of paradise. Accessible by air or by ferry service at its north and south ends, the Sunshine Coast is part of the BC mainland, and has all the laid-back charm of island living. Pender Harbour, dubbed the “Venice of the North” is a community wrapped in water including inlets, coves, bays, and lakes all washing the shores of several small villages including Madeira Park, Garden Bay, Irvines Landing, and Kleindale.
The “Beach House” is located on Francis Peninsula, a rocky peninsula also known as ‘Beaver Island’. Francis Peninsula has a meandering road that tucks along side the coastline of the peninsula. Private homes, marinas, and public parks dot the coast of the peninsula with many beautiful vistas to take in.

Imagine…waking to the sounds of the waves softly lapping at the shore, the yodel of loons and the cry of an eagle as it soars from it’s nest in the century old fir tree.
Have a relaxing morning with coffee on the deck, eagles soaring overhead, watching the seals play in the harbour, the deer with their fawns walking along the beach or be active and take out one of the 5 kayaks for a turn around the harbour.
The Beach house has much to offer guests for their special vacation. Located on the shores of Francis Peninsula, facing north west, it boasts 165 feet of low bank waterfront. Explore the tidal pools on the beach at low tide, sun tan on the multiple decks or dock, enjoy the many different sitting areas all with a view of the water and take in the beautiful evening sunsets.
With 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and 3,000 square feet, it offers ample room and privacy for families or couples. The house was fully renovated in 2017 with new bathrooms, a new kitchen and hardwoord floors. The wood burning fireplace provides a warm and cozy atmosphere during cooler weather.
The kitchen is fully stocked with dishwasher, microwave, oven, down-draft cook top and full sized fridge with water and ice dispenser as well as silestone countertops. The dining and living room have wrap around windows offering a 180 degree view of the ocean. The master bedroom has a king size bed, a full bathroom (tub/shower), an ocean view, and a sauna off the bathroom. The second main floor bedroom has a king size bed with a garden view and a full bathroom (tub/shower). Downstairs is a large TV/games room with a flat screen TV as well as a bedroom with 2 twin beds with ocean view and a full bathroom (shower). Laundry facilities (washer and dryer) are in the downstairs area.
Outside there are multiple decks with eating, lounging and sitting areas, each accommodating up to 8 people – all with a view of the ocean. There are 5 kayaks and one canoe. An assortment of personal flotation devices are available however to ensure a good fit it is advised to bring your own. The yard is large (close to an acre) and beautifully landscaped. Depending on the season you might find a selection of fresh organic produce including strawberries, raspberries, lettuce, tomatoes, and blueberries in the garden. Be sure to close all gates at all times otherwise the deer will have a smorgasbord.

Pender Harbour offers a surprising array of amenities. Lakes, the Pacific Ocean, hiking, water sports, diving, fishing, and kayaking are at your doorstep. Restaurants include both high end and economy. Have a different seafood every dinner with spot prawns bought right off the boat when in season, crabs bought at the Pender Harbour government wharf, fish and chips at the local pubs.
The peninsula has several beaches including Martin’s Beach, Baker Beach, a beautiful little waterfront park that looks across the Strait of Georgia featuring a sandy beach that gently slopes into the ocean which is great for intertidal exploration, and the Francis Point Provincial Park with trails to walk along the bluffs that slope down to the ocean.
Close by you will find convenient shopping with a general grocery store in Madeira Park (5 minutes away by car) as well as multiple art/gift stores, a liquor store and a pharmacy. Also close to pubs and restaurants. You charter a fish boat, go on harbour tours, or take advantage of the many local hikes. Lots to keep you busy if you are looking for activities beyond sitting in your deck chair and enjoying the view! :)
